The standard curtainsider (tautliner) is the most widely used vehicle for palletised road freight in Europe. Sliding side curtains and an opening roof allow loading from the rear, from the side by forklift or from the top by crane.

Exceptions and limitations
- Technical payload ≠ legal payload: the Krone data sheet gives ~32.8 t technically; on the road the limit is the 40 t combination.
- The height varies 2.5–3.05 m with the model and the fifth wheel [S-SCB-SCS-UNI][S-LKWW-ROAD]; above ~2.7 m a mega is needed.
- 33 vs 34 EUR pallets: 34 only crosswise and with no tolerance; quotations use 33.
- The curtain does not protect against theft and is not insulated.
- The 15–16.4 m versions (37–40 EP) exceed 16.50 m as a combination → only in national systems (EMS), not in standard EU traffic (INFERENCE; UNVERIFIED for Romania).
