The 45' high cube container has the standard ISO width and is longer than a 40'. It is used for bulky goods on routes where the shipping lines offer it. It should not be confused with the wider pallet-wide version.
Practical reference values. We confirm the exact dimensions in the quote. Honexpres organises transport with this vehicle, on request.
Shipping lines publish slightly different values; per-line values are in the detailed specifications. On the road, the cargo weight may be limited by the total combination mass (40 t).

How the pallets fit
Indicative Honexpres drawing generated from the reference dimensions. Not a manufacturer drawing.
How it is loaded
- through the end doors (forklift, pallet truck)
- Its corner castings are compatible with 40' chassis.
- It takes fewer EUR pallets than the pallet-wide version because of its width.
- On the road, length and height must be checked against the combination’s legal limits.
Suitable for
- Bulky goods on sea routes that use 45' containers
- Light consumer goods
- bulky cargo
- deep-sea routes that use 45' containers
Not suitable for
- a load of 33 EUR pallets (→ 45' PW)

Requires legal validation
- Maximum mass on the road: 40 t combination; 44 t intermodal (in Romania only on category R roads)
- Maximum height: 4.00 m on the road (container + chassis)
- Maximum gross mass (ISO): 36,000 kg ISO 668 (Amd. 2016); the real value is on the CSC plate
- VGM (verified gross mass): VGM mandatory for sea export (SOLAS VI/2, from 1 July 2016)
- 45' containers: +15 cm of length in intermodal transport for 45'
09 §1.1–1.2 (96/53, 2015/719) · 09 §1.4 (OG 43) · 09 §3.1 (ISO 668, CSC plate) · 09 §3.4 (VGM, SOLAS) · 09 §3.5 (road weights)
Exceptions and limitations
- Standard 45' (2.35 m) ≠ 45' pallet-wide (2.44 m): 27 vs 33 EUR pallets.
- Corner castings at 40' allow transport on a 40' chassis (Hapag-Lloyd).

What is the difference between a 45' HC and a 45' pallet-wide?
The pallet-wide version is slightly wider, so EUR pallets fit two abreast, as in a truck.
