Load calculator: loading metres, volume and pallets

Enter your goods (packaging type, number, dimensions, weight, stackable or not) and see how many loading metres they take up, their volume and which type of transport fits.

Result

Enter the quantity and the weight.

Indicative result; we confirm it in the quote.

How we calculate

LDM = floor area taken ÷ 2.4 m (reference trailer width). Stackable pallets take fewer floor positions.

Volume = length × width × height × number of units.

Chargeable weight: road 333 kg/m³ and 1850 kg/LDM; sea 1 t = 1 m³; air 1 m³ = 166.67 kg.

Fit checks use the conservative values of the reference dataset (practical minimum), not the maximum values of manufacturer sheets.

Reference dataset 2026.09.27-1

Limits

We don't account for axle load distribution, securing or goods that cannot be placed next to each other. For oversized, ADR or temperature-controlled cargo we confirm in the quote.

How many EUR pallets fit?

TypeEUR palletspayload
3.5 t panel van (Sprinter/Crafter class, long, high roof) 6 EUR pallets (not stacked) ~1 t
7.5 t rigid truck (curtain or box) 15 EUR pallets ~2.5 t
12 t rigid truck (curtain or box) 18 EUR pallets ~5.5 t
Standard curtainsider 13.6 m 33 EUR pallets 24 t
Mega trailer 13.6 m (3 m internal height) 33 EUR pallets 24 t

What it calculates

  • Loading metres (LDM): how much of the truck floor length your goods take up, across its full width.
  • Total volume, in cubic metres.
  • EUR pallet equivalent, useful for comparisons.
  • Chargeable weight for the chosen mode: road, sea (LCL) or air.
  • A recommendation: groupage, part load or full truckload, and the vehicles your goods fit in.

How we calculate

Loading metres come from the floor area used (length × width × number of units on the floor) divided by the reference trailer width. If goods can be stacked, units placed on top of each other take a single floor position, up to the maximum stacking height. Volume is length × width × height × quantity. Chargeable weight is the higher of the actual weight and the weight derived from volume (and, by road, from loading metres), using each mode’s convention. The parameters used (reference width, stacking height, factors) are shown next to the result.

For standard pallets, if you do not know the dimensions, the calculator uses the usual EUR and industrial pallet sizes and marks the result as an estimate.

Limits

  • The result is indicative. The actual loading pattern depends on the goods, packaging, loading method and the vehicle assigned.
  • Groupage networks and carriers apply their own chargeable-weight rules; the one that applies to you is stated in the quote.
  • The calculator does not check axle load distribution or the limits for oversized loads.

You can send the result straight into your quote request. Vehicle dimensions are on the truck type sheets.
